Description
This is a rotating space station with a radius of 180 meters, requiring a slightly above 2 rotations per minute angular velocity. Due to this slow rotation and the advancements in automated docking capabilities of both manned and unmanned vessels, docking on the outer ring structure has become feasible. Consequently, there's no need for supporting spoke-like structures or an inner, non-rotational section, simplifying the construction process. This approach allows for the use of lightweight inflatable fabric-based segments.
Diverging from the known designs of rotating wheel space stations from the 1950s, 1960s, and earlier, the majority of the inner space is allocated for trees and other plant life. Therefore, offices and labs find their place in the rims around the toroidal shape of the station. A bit like a Stanford torus, but smaller.
Created entirely within Blender.
