I agree with a couple others, show a statement about how long/strenuous the flight is, then show which male caught the female, etc. Easiest way

You could try showing the position of the sun or something if you wanted to show passage of time to imply it was a long one.

A common trick with that scenerio I've seen in stuff I read, you could always have one of the weyrfolk comment on the length of flight. Then you don't have to show it, and everyone gets the general idea of the flight.
