Motion shots are a great concept, (even though this isn't one) but rather hard to pull off. I just wish that I had the equipment (a fast shooting camera, I guess) to do 'em myself.

The name of the piece works well with the picture. Leaving the picture open to interpretation is much appreciated. Is there any reason you chose to show the cigarette along its seam? Altogether a brilliant job.

Chris, I faved this shot earlier today in haste and didn't have time to comment. I'm back now with more time on my hands to do so properly.
This piece is entirely brilliant. I don't think I've seen better employment of such great depth of field. The dedication that must have gone into this shot is not lost on me. It defines 'freezing a moment.' Everything from the perspective to the tones is a clear winner in my book.
It probably doesn't mean much to you being that this piece already has 300+ favs, but it is important to me to include it into my favs gallery. It deserves a spot.

The pleasure was all mine. I think you win the record for the longest time in between replying to my comment. At first I was confused, wondering if you had written a reply to the wrong person. No worries though. A quick glance refreshed my mind. This piece is still resting pretty in my favs gallery and I doubt it'll leave anytime soon.
The little dedication time makes no difference to me. It's the final product that counts, and it's truly stunning.

I started out as a chemical engineering major (as was suggested by my civil engineering cousin who also graduated from A&M) and only planned to draw as a hobby, but when I got to upper level I realized that engineering is an awful awful career for art-inclined people. I was in too deep (in terms of credits, money, time, etc.) so I figured I'd just stick around and finish up school as an ENDS major. Although I really wish now that I'd gone straight to an art school, I'm still happy with being in ENDS.

Being ENDS - you seem to fit in well. It pretty much is the art school for A& M. At least thats where all the cool artists are

You are very right there is so many meanigs one could gather from this photo....its an amzing shot.....fantstic perspective kind of puts us in a demeaning lower status feeling as the viewer.
I also like the grittyness of the grain and colur kind of adds that sinister element.

first off, i love the sepia tones. and it took me some thinking, but i also love the graininess. it gives it a gritty feel. not to mention the superb focus. i don't know where you got this idea, but i love the photo. absolutely brilliant.

Exactly what I was thinking. So many meanings... yea. Very excellent tint work, but I'm somewhat concerned about the cigerette. He didn't even light it up? Well, I don't know much about him, so maybe he doesn't smoke. *shrug* All I know is that this is going to bother me. ^_^ Very awesome picture though.
