This drawing is based on a Heavy Metal comic book cover. It was a series of adult oriented drawings and stories that came out in the late 70's and 80's, I'm not even sure if they are still in production. I saw this cover and really really liked it, so I did what I did alot back then. In order to practice and get good at drawing, I would copy what I saw. I looked at the cover and drew this with some of my own minor alterations. That and the tone of it is a little different too.Related content

she wore a tunic acctually. i did a report on her for school recently. super fun >.<

I am not unaware of the garments worn in that time period. I have slogged it out in Brit lit honors course along with an intensive study of the early age of England and the Brythonic tribes. If I remember correctly she was from the Iceni people. You are correct on the tunic and the fashions of the Celts. I just did the stylized version with the decorative helmet cause its freaking cool and a fantasy picture. The most intensive part of my research was on the Angle Saxon tribes. I am a descendent of an Angle lord. He is the earliest mention of my family surname and it is from the year 1086 in Norfolk. We are in the Doomsday book and The Visitations. I had a friend who spent some time in England on a student exchange program and she got to see the big statue of Boudicca.

Thanks!!! texture is a big challenge in drawing. that is why i liked this one so much. i worked real hard on the hair and the fur cape. i have made big posters of these drawings and some of them looked real cool large. I made a huge 4 foot by 4 foot poster of this one and it actually had a presence to it.

Thank you! i was a detail freak for awhile. probably because of my OCD manifesting itself under stress. because of my need to escape from my atrocious teenage life, i threw myself into my drawings and the worlds i created. sometimes i would lose myself in a drawing and certain details. then my intrest in the particular work would wane and i would move onto something else. this one i liked because of the effect of fur, armour and gear, and the overall proportions of the valkeryie came out pretty good, especially the fur cloak. glad you liked it.
