You do? I don't think you would say that if you actually had one though. They're cute until they get in your house, then they make lots of noise, at night usually when you're trying to sleep..haha.

They get inside your house? Like on the Disney cartoon right?

Oh yes, up in the attic and the attic here is really small so I can hear everything they're doing up there! I wish they were like Alvin and the Chipmunks...haha

If you're going to have chipmunks, real is maybe better than animated I'm thinking...but it's still early

si early...haven't even had my shower yet...Β  I put out some sunflower seed for the chipmunk and now there's two and a squirrel...and they don't like to share...chipmunks look like little tiny squirrels...are they the same family deal? Like lions and tigers and Ginger...who by the way really wants to join the party.

Yes I have to get in the shower myself Poor Ginger squirrels and chipmunks out there and her stuck in the house. I have a feeling Ginger would be a party crasher

I have several of these guys running about. They keep the clutter cleaned up under my feeders. Yours looks a little different from my local guys. might just be your superior photographer.

I commented on your photo, I don't think its my photography skills in this case, I think its because he's right outside my dining room window and its probably lighter than your local chipmunks.

I wonder if they're lighter through natural selection. Maybe the back ground foliage is lighter there.Β

donnatello129 In reply to trulyonetoo [2015-10-06 21:09:00 +0000 UTC]

Did you say that you had a second major, in science? That is probably exactly why if they are all lighter here than where you live. I don't know for sure though because some of the ground foilage here is pretty dark, so maybe this one is the only blonde in its family...haha.

trulyonetoo In reply to donnatello129 [2015-10-07 17:13:14 +0000 UTC]

No I don't have a second degree in science but I do read a lot and I love natural history. It was just an idea. I know all things evolve as a result of environment. Do you know about the peppered moths in the Birminham UK( I think) area. When all the steel mills were burning coal and everything had a layer of soot making it black one particular species of moths began darker almost black. When the mills switched over to a different fuel that didn't pollute so back, or maybe they shut down don't remember but the soot went away and the moths started becoming lighter...so they wouldn't stand out as much...you get what I'm saying....maybe it was the only blonde chipmunk in the family...we could probably devise a test for that...but I'm not going there... some of my very favorite people are blonde

Haha, I was just being a smart alec I know you read a lot and natural history/anthropology is amazing! I know exactly what you are talking about! We could devise a test? hmmmmmm...so who are your favorite people that are blonde?

trulyonetoo In reply to donnatello129 [2015-10-08 13:31:41 +0000 UTC]

I thought maybe you were I know you've talked a lot about anthropology too...or was it archaeology. Your second major right...I'm not sure if we could devise a blond test for chipmunks or not...maybe put a mirror out and see which one runs to it...that might be a fun experiment anyway just to see how they react. I hung one on my porch for the birds but the male cardinals tried to pick fights with it and I was afraid they would be injured. The blue birds go after the mirrors on my truck for a couple weeks every Spring. I had to put bags over them.
My favorite blonde..hmmmmm.... I'll just say she's so much smarter than me...and much better lookingΒ

Anthropology was my minor as an undergrad, I double majored in History and Gender and Women's studies. In grad school my major was Leadership. Putting a mirror up and seeing if the blonde chipmunks run into it sounds kinda mean...haha. My two chihuahua mixes bark at mirrors, my jack russell is a little smarter and figures out that its her. Could be the gender difference Β Β  Awe that's sweet of you
