Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil - for the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die....We all think we want to know the truth, till we know it. Therein comes the comment... "ignorance is bliss"

The symbolism is so riveting: the upside down blood teardrop being on the left side, the dark side, the critical, analytical side of your brain ; the dead dove being the good side because our self and perception grows from bad experiences. I'm assuming that the dove is dead in order to symbolize bad experiences. I can't exactly decipher what she's holding but I'm pretty sure it's a seed. It looks like a seed. It would make sense if it was a seed since her hair are tree branches. The elaborate Elizabethan ruff collar being juxtaposed to a bare body. The vision of humans being beautifully complicated yet simple is shown through the vulnerability which comes from being naked, from showing your true colors and skin. I absolutely ADORE this piece because it is abstract but the symbolism is so solid and relatable that the message is not skewed which is a balance that many artists, including myself, struggle with. I'm kinda of in love with your artwork. I never knew I could love an inanimate object. Ah! Object is a horrible word! I mean artwork! So yea. Don't lose your creativity! I would cry and lose faith in the art world. Oh! Please excuse my horrible grammar and writing- I'm not the best.

Good morning MagneticCaravan... although your interpretation of the painting is a bit different than mine, I love it! When using symbolism, you are able to "hide" messages that only pertain to you personally. One of my greatest joys is to hear what others see in the artwork. That is the point... to get people to think!! I so appreciate your insight, and lovely remarks. You hit the nail on the head in much of your commentary on the symbols. I could tell you my intent, but that would spoil the fun! Thankyou again for investing so much of your time into deciphering this piece... smiles.....

Exactly what I meant. She eats of the tree's fruit and knows the concept of good and evil. She becomes what she eats, although forbidden to do so.
