Description
"Too warm," Mal rumbles out with a furrow to her brow, running her knuckles across Kaela's forehead and against the loose strands of her hair. Her tone is gruff with worry as she asks, "are you sick?"

Kaela almost had the urge to laugh, even if her throat burned; it was just a cold, nothing that would really warrant such a reaction, but she caught just how worried Mal was. It's in the way she leans almost too close, or how she brushes her hair back with all the gentleness she can muster, in how her frown deepens the longer she stays quiet. She's never quite seen Mal look so... disquieted before, looking for all the world lost in what to do to help. So Kaela smiles instead, touched by the concern, resting her chin over the crossed arms against her knee and looking up into Mal's burning eyes.

"It's just a cold, Mal," She says, soft voice rough with a cough. Mal's wings and some of her hair ruffle in response, looking almost like a disgruntled bird, and this time Kaela does allow a small laugh to escape her. She reaches one hand up to carefully smooth some of the bristling feathers along her shoulders. They relax almost instantly under her touch and Mal sighs, sagging a little with her worry.

"Just a cold, ke aloha," she says again, gentler this time, hoping to reassure the spirit, "I'll be fine soon."

This drawing in particular has been done for quite a while but I held off posting it outside of my Patreon because I couldn't for the life of me figure out a little blurb to add to it. I finally did though so, here it is! uwu

In which Mal is more worried than she probably should be for Kaela having a cold, although there's a good reason for it that'll be explained later when the story fully kicks off.

But uhh... yeh. I don't got much else to say for now so, I hope ya like the art and thank you for taking a peek! owo If you need a reminder for what Feathers and Flowers is in the meantime, it's my og story project which is currently being worked on to be a full on comic. Updated reference sheets and character bios will be coming soon enough! uwu
