Summary: Cid is kidnapped and forced to ask quite personal questions about his and Vincent’s relationship. But why? And by who?

"So." The voice wasn't loud, but it was enough to wake Cid from his stupor - or maybe the drugs were wearing off. "It is time to wake up, Mr Highwind."

Oh, he'd wake up alright. And when he had, he'd punch out the lights of the bastard who had slipped something in his beer for starters. He tried to heave himself up but found that he was tied, wrists and ankles, to a chair. No not tied, handcuffed. And the Gods-damned chair was welded to the floor. Whoever it was that had kidnapped him had apparently put a lot of thought to this. A lot of sadistic thought.

Just how sadistic he didn't realize until a small surge of electricity ran through his body like lightning, assuring the kidnapper got both his attention and a string word of curses.

"Good, you are awake. I have some questions for you." If the voice was amused by him jumping and cursing, it didn't let on.

Where was the kidnapper anyway? And where the Hell was they?! Cid looked around. A small room, bare walls, empty of anything except him and the chair a gods-damned lamp shining in his face. He got the impression of a huge mirror on the wall and pieces clicked to place in his head. ShinRa. Only ShinRa would have a room like this. He glanced down at his naked chest. Nestled amongst the golden sprinkles of hair there was a number of suction cups - a huge number. He got nervous, despite himself.

"They are for the polygraph. Only a few of them emit electric shocks. Do try to relax. All I want is to ask you a few questions."

"Oh yeah? All I want is ta rip ya ta shreds and feed 'em ta my boyfriend's pet demons." His voice was rough from disuse and drugs but Cid was pretty proud over the statement anyway. Demon cannibalisms ought to scare off anyone.

Apparently not, as the voice continued.

"Vincent Valentine, yes. He is the reason you are here."

Figures. ShinRa wasn't known for letting go of anything useful, and Vincent would be a damn useful Turk. Trying to wring his hands free from the handcuffs resulted in chafed wrists and little else. ShinRa was too professional and far too experienced for anything else.

"How do you know Vincent Valentine?" The voice questioned.

Cid glared.

"Ya know how, it ain't a secret. We are both Avalanche members and now were in love. What's it ta ya?" The Turks must be behind this. It was the only thing that made sense. They sometimes crossed paths with Avalanche, and Turks were a tight bunch. They probably had some thing about having each other’s backs even after all that had happened to Vincent, and they were paranoid bastards. The only question was who was behind that mirror? He didn't quite recognize the voice, so it couldn't be Reno. Try as he might, there were no way anyone could turn off that lower-plate drawl and turn it into these short, correct sentences.

"And what are your intentions with him?" The voice asked after a short pause in which he or she probably checked the polygraph prints.

"Ain't none of yer fuckin' - ouch!" Cid jumped again as another pang of electricity hit him. "Fine, fine, I *intend* ta marry his scrawny ass and live gay-ly ever after!"

"Do you have any known STDs?"

Cid gaped.

"What the hell is yer problem, ya son of a - ow! Ow! Fine, stop! No, I don't, happy?" Elena. It could be Elena. There was no way anyone was that blonde and bubble-headed unless it was a sham, 'specially in the Turks. Yeah, he could imagine her sitting on the other side of the mirror, chewing gum and filing her nails and asking fucking personal questions while giving him electric shocks.
But no, something about the voice told him it wasn't a woman’s.

"Are you a virgin, Mr Highwind?"

Alright, so he might just stop balking at these questions, 'cause they kept getting worse.

"I'd have a damn disappointed boyfriend if I did, wouldn't I?"

"Let me rephrase that - were you a virgin when you met Vincent Valentine?"

What was the obsession with saying the whole name? It wasn't as if Cid knew any other Vincent’s that he could be mixed up with.

"No, I wasn't. But - " he interrupted the next question. "- don't piss in yer pants. I intend ta be completely faithful ta him."

"Hmmm." The voice seemed to hesitate. Rude? Cid had never heard the bald man speak much but he was always very properly dressed. Maybe his speech pattern was the same? Cid glanced down at the elaborate shock-therapy cords on his chest. Nah, that wasn't Rude's style at all. Rude would have just put a bag over his victim's head and beat him up if he wouldn't answer.

"Do you….love him?"

Despite his promise not to be shocked anymore, Cid blinked in surprise. That wasn't a very Turk-ish question. All the others could be expected to hurt Vincent but this….

"Yeah. Yeah I do." Cid said softly. "Like I ain't never loved anyone ever before."

That question alone ruled out Tseng. There were no way that cold snake of a man would have asked a question like this. But….then who was it? Who in the world cared enough for Vincent Valentine to kidnap and interrogate his boyfriend? And had access to ShinRa interrogations rooms?

There was a small cough, almost as if the person behind the mirror was clearing his throat after being overwhelmed by emotions.

"That is good. I am…satisfied with your answers, Mr Highwind. When you wake up you will be back at your airship. You can try to trace me if you want, or complain to ShinRa about your treatment, but it will do you no good."

"What do ya mean, when I wake up? I'm fucking awake! I'm….oh shit." He watched with dread as white smoke started filling the room and a few seconds later he was out like a light.

Sephiroth sat back on his chair and watched the pilot's head loll forward. The man was rough, but he was genuine. Vincent Valentine was in no danger from him, physically or emotionally. In fact, he might be in the very best of hands.

He smiled a little, a brittle, insane smile. Avalanche and the world thought he was a complete momma's boy, doing whatever Jenova wanted him to. What they failed to realize was that he cherished, respected and looked after *both* his parents equally much. And he would see none of them hurt.

He stroked the black box in his lap which contained Mother's head.

“Don’t worry Mother.” He mumbled at the box. “I’ll make sure they can’t hurt Father anymore.”
