Description My good friend Katie. Re-inked it on the computer because it was just too shitty the first time. Now it's at an acceptable level of shitty. For real though, I think it turned out alright.

^-^

The pic has a very nice background, very simple but it doesn't look bare. I think that you effectively filled negative/positive space. ^-^

I do think that the character looks a bit homely, and that you could have made her expression a bit more lively to take away from the fact that she's not attractive or terribly interesting to look at.

Your feet do need some work. The most prominent tendon is the big toe's and the index toe. For some, the middle toe's tendon is also quite noticeable, but the ring toe and pinky toe's tendons are quite invisible unless you are really skinny.

Overall, your pics are really interesting, and your characters are very unique. I do think you should work on anatomy a little bit more. This pic in particular seemed to emphasize your character's manly features, which I think makes for a slightly boring pic. 3.4/5, interesting, but not the best choice considering manliness usually comes out boring in pictures.

Thanks.

I don't see her as unattractive or homely, and I'm not sure how manliness translates to being "boring". She is thin and has somewhat defined muscles, yes, but I don't get "manliness" out of that at all.

Her feet could definitely use some work--I think they might be a tad on the small side.

I'm not skinny by any stretch of the word, but I do see the tendon for my ring-toe and pinky-toe, though. They really don't look right in the drawing, for sure.

I'm not terribly interested in drawing excessively large-breasted women with dainty noses and perpetual smiles. That doesn't sound interesting to me. I'm not saying that's what you are saying I should do, but I'm just sayin'. I don't see a lack of overt femininity (or whatever you're looking for in a drawing of a girl) as being "boring" or "unattractive".

Thanks again. Your criticism is very much appreciated and helpful.

When girls are slightly manly, they lost the attraction of beauty, but they don't have the shock factor of really manly. Thus, making her boring-looking, not that I'm saying she is. ^_^ The manliness is her proportions, the average woman is about equal shoulder-to-hips. There are also far more women who have wider hips than shoulders.

About the feet tendons-you're a guy, aren't you? ^-^ men's tendons stand out a bit more than women's do. Also, if you can see the ring/pink toe tendons, the foot is either under stress (you're flexing/etc) or you can see all of the toe tendons. ^-^

And yes, I don't like seeing large-breasted/ideal bodied women, that's not the goal. The human proportions should still be in balance, though. Also, the thickness of the lines that are being used to depict muscles/shading on the body are very thick, which makes them look more like hair or burly muscle. Try thinner lines, they look more subtle and less extreme. -_^

The way I meant for you to think about was to make her more action-more exciting or interesting. Leaning back looking straight at the viewer isn't an exciting pose. Maybe if she had her face turned away but her eyes still looking at the viewer, that would have been more of an interesting pose. If the character isn't absurdly eye-catching, there has to be something magical about the pose/angle/whatever to make the image more memorable.

I like the background a lot. Very interesting. A couple anatomy issues to help improve this work. Her right boob needs to be a tiny bit larger to match the shape of he left one (I wouldn't make the left boob smaller in this case).
And, not sure if this was the intention, but the hand is very, very, very masculine and large (compared to the feet which are closer to the point of view).
On that note, the feet look a little small.
Overall, I can definately see the work that went into this. Not my style but appreciated.
Thanks for posting.

I think you're definitely right about her feet, they are a bit small for sure. Thanks for the input, it's really helpful.

I like this. It's strange but it's a good level of strange. One of her feet looked a little too round to me, but then again feet are hard to draw. I really like the black and white of your drawings. If they were in colour, I don't think I would've enjoyed them very much.

Feet are tough to draw. This is as close I could get them before I moved on.
