The final version of this . I finally had time to submit it...[Edit]
Here... this might help. This is what my artist statement was for the gallery showing:
"In our vast world, there are still many miraculous mysteries we have yet to solve, and we marvel as a species at the spectacular display of beauty and ingenuity nature has to offer us. One most intriguing creature is the Turritopsis nutrucula, the Immortal Jellyfish, who, as it's name suggests, has found a way to bypass death and reverts from a mature state back to it's infant polyp stage. This tiny, modest creature has gained a supernatural status, and in my mind, it is in league with such magical things as the Phoenix and the Fountain of Youth. I thought of what incarnation this jellyfish might take in a mythological setting and created this work of art as both an homage to classic mythology and to the original, little jellyfish."

I'm... ok with this... i guess. I would be happier with it if maybe the art show wasn't such a bummer. It was last week. I didn't get the scholarship or the people's choice... or sell it, but that's not really what bothers me (maybe the not selling). I was most pissed off that a whole bunch of friends and family who said they would come pretty much blew me off with no further explanation... Luckily, a few good friends DID actually come so I wasn't completely alone... It also just took up a lot of time for so little pay off when I could have been focusing on more important things. Whatever e__e...
Talking about it pissing me off so I'll leave it at that. Not to be ungrateful or anything, it was just a rough past few weeks...

I've got to say, this is the first piece I have ever seen to be done about Turritopsis nutricula. Thumbs up for a fantastic combination of art and science! I think this is the coolest thing ever, but that's just coming from some nerdy marine biologist ^-^ Great art!

I know about the jellyfish for some years, but you interpretation is really stunning, in my opinion. style and colours also fit perfectly, and if I were your IRL friend and had a chance to see your art show, I would definitely come, I would never miss something like that~

I actually really like the way this turned out. Not only that, but the message that you gave through this piece and through your artist statement gives it life. I wish you had a better evening at the art show though. :/ This baby deserves more love and attention than it got and it always sucks to be blown off.
