Description
For The Far Wild . Painted in Photoshop almost entirely, with a little bit of matte. I learned alot from this piece, trying to get the most realistic lighting and water reflection without reference. I'm happy with it.

In the far away land of warriors and socceries, those who seek glory in the Underworld must venture through the dreaded passage of the Great Swamp. Rumors has that, only those who gained the favor of the enchantress may cross the swamp on great lilies.

At first I thought the sorcoress was a tiny nymph or faerie, but then I saw the birds and realized that everything else was just huge.

Wow! you really captured the whimsy in this, i'm writing a story that takes place n a swamp and this is kind of what i imagined mine looking like with variations on the canopy, Wish i could paint then people could SEE what i see, o well

If this is supposed to look terrfying or intimidating, I'm so sorry but I think it looks cute! Maybe its because the woman looks like a swamp faery rather than a sorceress. I don't know, I just don't find her menacing because the swamp looks far more bigger than her. And call me weird, but I find the swamp to be too beautiful to be haunting. Maybe you should've tried a more dry, misty colour?
But I will say that I love how you drew the lily pads. The reflection on the water is wow-able. To be honest, this is the most friendly swamp I've ever seen.

Yeah, actually the main story behind this piece is the big lily pad as a form of "transportation" through the swamp. So the sorceress (I didn't actually in particular made her evil or good) is the key to summon these lily. So, in the end I didn't intend for it to look spooky but more like enchanting.

Haha.. I won't say it's exactly her daily routine. Since it's a game of adventure of sort, I'd say it's one "service" she provided to the adventurers in exchange of something she wanted for the travel pass through the swamps. ^^
