Awe and fascination have been my reactions to the use of color in traditional Chinese Architecture,the texture and ornamentation on the buildings is very rich and it ussually blends yellow and red.
I photographed this roof detail at Xiequyuan ( 'Garden of Harmonious Interest' ),
near the spot where movie director Bertolucci filmed the only Summer Palace scene in 'The Last emperor'
......every day the sky is either solid blue or it has beautiful cloud formations.

This is a beautiful piece. It contains gorgeous colours and marvellous architecture. Itβs even better how the buildings paint is slightly warn away. Ancient Chinese architecture is always a treat to the eyes. This is also taken at a well set angle and the lighting is perfect. I chew at your ubΓ«r excellent skills. GNAR GNAR GNAR!!

The Last Emperor is one of my all time fav movies - incredibly inaccurate, but I just love they got to use the real places as glorious backdrops.

beautiful pleace. I was always fascinating with chinese culture. The architecture is for me so intereresting, so great composed, so colorfull, that make me dream about livin in Pekin, for egzample ... So that why i'm jealous - you have this chanse to see it your own eye....

First of all, I'm really jealous that you have seen this architecture in person.
Secondly, what is that roof made of? I thought that the roofs with that architecture were made with tiles, but the roof in your picture almost looks like it is rusting.
If the roof is truly tile I think you have captured a very interesting picture from an architectural point a view. It almost seems a cross between old architectural design and modern day metal products. I think the picture has a very nice angle because it plays with the shadows made by a lower sun.

I just remember that the skies in Beijing were always brownish. Like LA. I dunno. I always wondered if it was smog or something, cuz honestly, living in the Silicon Valley, I thought our skies were much better.
