I decided to 3D model the Salticere in Zbrush, the previous rendering was done entirely in photoshop. This was modeled/posed in Zbrush, rendered in Keyshot, composited in Photoshop with a decent amount of post process work in photoshop.This is the photoshop rendering of the character:
