Description Custom order for a Etsy-customer

Already my third Paragon Soul! I´m still so in love with this concept, and of course, with blue macaw feathers!

The designs painted on the feathers are inspired by the "Paragon" logo from MassEffect.

The quill is handcrafted by me, assembled from seven magnificent blue wingfeathers from the common yellow chested macaw. The hold is made from satin ribbon I winded arround the end of the largest feather, decorated with a blue glass gem, a silver metall ornament and a beautifull silver wing.
Writing nib in the tip
The tribal ornaments are all handpainted by me directly on the feathers, using Citadel-Colors and a small brush.

PLEASE NOTE: The feathers come from beloved petbirds, bred in captivity and owned by loving Birdbreeders in germany. They are naturaly lost through molt and were given to me by the owners. No bird was harmed for this piece of art!!!

How on earth do you paint of the feathers without the feather barbs separating? I tried painting feathers for imitations arrows and they all separated when painted and looked awful *cries*

I was just thinking about how many bald parrots you must own, when I read the note about the feathers being naturally lost.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ganjamira In reply to PGwainbenn [2015-02-10 18:27:37 +0000 UTC]

Vielen Dank!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PGwainbenn In reply to Ganjamira [2015-02-11 06:20:56 +0000 UTC]

Ganjamira In reply to PGwainbenn [2015-02-11 13:58:18 +0000 UTC]

PGwainbenn In reply to Ganjamira [2015-02-11 17:00:27 +0000 UTC]

Ganjamira In reply to PGwainbenn [2015-02-13 21:02:56 +0000 UTC]

I'm so in love with those designs of yours, they make me want to try and do the same The feathers are so beautiful by themselves, and painted and associated this way they are even more (and they are blue, and painted, and blue... did I mention they are blue? ) I still have a long way to go before I can even think of using parrot feathers though, I must train on some cheaper feathers before (and figure how to change the nib... )

May I ask how you clean the feathers you use in your crafts? I'm currently trying to figure out a way to clean feathers without water (water and soap seem to work well but only on big, strong feathers, and I have many smaller ones I'd like to clean without destroying them), some crafters use borax (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borax ) but it is only sold to professionals in my country due to health hazard >.< Please don't feel in a hurry to answer, I know you have many things to do

Thank you for being such an inspiration and a nice person <3
