Description I wanted to try this for so long but had to find a nice labradorite first!

This time I sculpted little sealily leaves onto the labradorite, so the stone itself becomes a glittering pond, where the roots of old oaks sink into.
The stone is really magnificent, these are only a few of the opalescent parts and dots, they glow differently in every ankle

The pendant is made from a labradorite I sculpted on with polymerclay - the roots, plants, moss and sealilys are all sculpted and painted by me.

Wenn du nochmal so einen Labradorit findest und ich dann gerade Geld über habe, dann würde ich auch so einen herrlichen Anhänger in Auftrag geben. Die Idee ist einfach der Wahnsinn! Zum Sterben schön!

its opal right?

Ganjamira In reply to askVioletcat [2014-10-03 14:27:30 +0000 UTC]

^^ No, its a labradorite - a wonderfull gemstone, aviable in nearly every color and lightpattern imaginable! Its also not so expensive as opal and easier to work with, since opals are very sensitiv to heat, light and touch ;_;

hm.. I wonder how the labradorit doesn't fell off... Shouldn't it be held at the bottom too? Please answer! I'm super curious!

Awwwww I´m so sorry fr the late reply ;-;

The tendrils and branches are going further arround the stone, so there are roots on the backside holding him too They don´t have this fancy woodtexture though, because the pendant layed flat on the back while baking >.<

I love this so much!!!  To make the lily flowers - I wonder if you started with a small ball of clay and then made tiny knife cuts from the top (only half to three quarters of the way through) and spread the cut part at the top, out a tiny bit.  Lots of tiny, tiny cuts, working towards the centre.  It's just a thought and I really hope it works for you

Uhh, and thanks for that tip! I just tried it out - works pretty good but my flower more looked like a rose or camelia But at all its a very good way to sculpt flowers - thank you so much!

Nyahhh, I think it was my mistake of beeing totally unexperienced with flowers (at least such tiny ones xD) , not a mistake in your tip Will continue sculpting again this evening anyway, then its for try No.2^^

Labradorite is perfect as a magical pond base!  Well done theme, and excellent detail work.

Just one question...where are the water-lily or lotus flowers? *gentle/playful nudging* I know you can do them!
