Gee, I didn't know that those Rick's and Mitt's and the amphibian were Buddhist Dukhobors....
It's a lovely image, Greg, one which may make me stray from my study of celestial bodies sooner rather than later

Of course, they`re not. You saw right through my facetiousness!
However, I begin to suspect that you are one of those enlightened, exquisitely sensitive souls you refer to -- am I correct?
As regards your `straying`: have I become an insalutary influence, then? I can`t help hoping that you shall stray, as you say, but with only salutary results!

First of all, welcome back. It has been too long since you have shared your work with us. And, not surprising, you haven't lost your touch when it comes to unique, imaginative, original, emotive, expressive, though-provoking (I think that about covers it) photography. The lighting is perfect and I love the very expressive hands. Another fave, so look for a manip soon.
And BTW, your description above is a hoot and, yes, none of it surprises me

You know I often suspected fornication was not something any of them have used as a means of reproduction...something much less passionate and more impersonal has to be the way they "do it"

I did suspect the truth, I confess.
I am having such splendid inner journeys, splendid in the sense of an enormous epic story fraught with dangers and rewards. And I forget to come up to the surface to change and exchange, at times. I am preparing to teach a course called, "Modern Fantasy and Jung". This permitted me a huge indulgence. I have reread Jung, watched von Franz films, reread Campbell. This world holds little allure at the moment. So I send messages in images.

Coincidentally I have a new friend in Guanajuato, a Canadian woman, who is, first and foremost, an `ecstatic` (as she calls herself: she has more superlative experiences per hour than I`ve had in my entire life), a Jungian psychotherapist, mythologist, protegee-disciple of Campbell (many years spent together, she avers), and, not least, and most lately, an irrepressibly exuberant fan of my poems!! What do you make of that?

faeriecrone In reply to gfriedberg [2012-05-08 23:47:53 +0000 UTC]
I believe the lingo is synchronicity. I should like to be a mouse in the corner for your one-sidedly ecstatic conversations with this amazing person. She also sounds a bit wearying. But then, she also sounds like an extroverted sensation type (more lingo) and I always find them wearying, being an introverted intuitive myself (far more lingo than necessary). But thrilling to speak with in brief spurts!
And your poems and also your images are sense prompts, so I cannot imagine she would be less than delighted!
Where did she study?

I believe McGill (she is from Quebec originally) but the time with Campbell likely came later -- not sure of the details, chronology -- I`ll ask her, let you know.
Meanwhile I`m remiss in reporting to you about the Pope`s visit to Guanajuato: it was logistically and otherwise deemed a success. The town`s accommodations were not overwhelmed, and people found him more sympathetic than they`d expected to. He donned sombreros, used grammatically unexceptional Spanish -- who wouldn`t be won over?! However, he did not touch on the child-abuse scandal whereof an especially egregious and long-enduring manifestation (re Fr. Marcial Maciel Degollado) occurred in Mexico and which he (Ratzinger) was aware of and tolerated for years before action was finally taken, during his tenure as top administrator responsible for such matters . . .

The Pope as a symbol is an interesting archetype. But as a man, he is not likely to take on scandal in person. Were the Mexican Catholics disappointed? Grammatically unexceptional Spanish? Is that like junior high Spanish 1?
I do not need to know all about your new friend. This is a fascinating study for me and that makes me happy.
What's new with you?

gfriedberg In reply to faeriecrone [2012-05-11 12:47:20 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I understand what you say. And, although there was much grumbling before the Pope`s arrival concerning the bother and expense, my Mexican friends attested that they were deeply moved. Just after he passed by -- in his vehicle which is rather like an automotive shrine or reliquary, at disconcertingly high speed because he and his party were late for their engagement in the town center -- the young man that I am in love with explained it to me thus: `you have to believe to feel it.`
And I guess that is my news, although it is of two years` duration: I am in love with someone half my age whom I deem far worthier of being worshiped / enshrined. But because neither of us is free, the unlikely, other life we might have, we can only sample, never fully partake of, which is still better than the unthinkable alternative of not having it at all -- although sometimes I feel the yearning is more than I can bear. Which is to say, I am subject to violent swings between devastation / exhilaration.
The friend I mentioned is privy to the situation, gives me fortifying advice in a maternal sort of way, but inasmuch as she quite believes that life is defined by its superlative experiences, she doesn`t warn me off it, rather savors its drama, conceives it in a context Wagnerian or Pasternakian, -- and although she is a friend of all involved. But is it more like a telenovela? What do you suppose?
And I am truly pleased that you are enjoying your current pursuits!

Ah. That is tricksy. And, as for me, the first question I should have to ask myself is Why? What inside of me wants this to be? This always helps. It does not always change anything but it always helps.
