Never buy a full costume, they are usually full of mistakes, and you don't get the satisfactory feeling of completed costume.
Here's a secret: I can't sew. All I've done is to sit in front of the sewing machine and try out different things.
Just sit in front of your sewing machine and learn this way. There's nothing else to it.

Borrow from a friend, relative, or simply save money for one. Promise your mom new curtains, anything that will do.

Like fabric? There should be fabric shops here and there, and I'm sure they are happy to help. My dress took 3,5 meters of fabric (the bodice and skirt) for example.

well yeah the dress took a lot and I don't think I made it poofy enough so a little more would have been needed, If you are unsure you can always take cheapest fabric or sheet you can find, and make the costume completely from sheet (protoype version) and then open it up from all the seams to see how much fabric you need, and use all the pieces like patterns. But yeah skirts can consume a lot of fabric.

Oh, wow, you're an amazing Elizabeth! C: May I ask where you purchased your wig?

The wig was from Ebay, but sadly, I can't remember the store name. I did check some time ago (when I still had the link saved) if they had anymore of the wigs (as when I bought them there was 4 available), but they weren't available anymore There seems to be one other wig avaible, but it wasn't the one I bought at least.
Anyway, it is a short wig (but long from the front) with a short but wide extension on the back. It could be attached with.. jaw kind of thing. I don't remember the English term, but at least in Finland we call them shark teeth. The feathers and lace were sewn on the wig by hand.
Sorry that I couldn't be anymore help, and thank you for your kind comment and favs!

Thank you, I'll have to look around some more on eBay then.
I figured it had an extension clip. Is it hard to keep on since it's heavier in back? I don't even know what they're called in English to be honest.
No, you were actually super helpful. C: You're very welcome, thank you for your help.

Yup, I've never kept that kind of wig before (with Violette all the weight was on the top and not on the back) so I had to keep it in my head for hours (before con day) to get used to it. Also I had to make sure my cap under it did not fall out, and take the wig with it, as they kept sliding off. Few hairpins that stopped the cap from sliding solved the problem.
Also with it I gained more height so if I wasn't careful I kept hitting my head/wig everywhere.
Oh yeah and also the long hair will try to get in your mouth all the time, especially if it's windy at all.
But once you get used to it, it's just like any wig. Getting used to it just takes a bit longer, but when you wear such a bog dress too, it's not the worse of your problems haha.
Glad to hear it was somewhat helpful!

Why thank you!
It actually isn't as hard as it looks like, though the details are pure pain to make.

Yeah, especially if you do live versions, it seems like the details just keep popping up, and there is more and more and aaaa
