this is my favorite lens so far, the sharpness's so great, the weakness is mostly like other tamron's lens that the autofocus is not really good for portrait, but for macro work which always use manual focus, for me this is a superb lens

Well I am thinking about a micro lens and alternatives to the rather steep Nikkor offerings are looking like likely candidates. The Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro is another possibility.
I have been told that a Nikon 6T close-up filter will make my Nikkor 35-70mm f2.8 AF-D achieve 1:1 reproduction. However these are costing upwards of £100 second hand! I can just about get either of the above lenses second hand for a little more than that and I get a better working distance (my nikkor's micro range is at 35mm).
