Another traditional bird drawing. This time, the Black-billed Magpie! One of my favourite birds. I swear man, when people talk about beautiful birds, most think of colourful parrots like macaws and the like, I just think MAGPIE. We have such beauty right in front of us, and take it for granted. It's a shame, I feel like they're pretty underrated.

I always loved magpies, but didn't realize just how colourful and pretty they were until I drew one. I'm so glad I did! I had a lot of fun. There's something so fucking cool about how the feathers seem black- but have so many colours hidden within. I really tried to capture the reflective/shiny properties of the feathers and I think it translates! At least a little. It could be better, I know there are many mistakes that I didn't get to fix- but I am still very happy with the results. I worked on this on and off again for months, almost scrapping it because I got bored and didn't like it at the time, but everything is a learning experience, so I decided to finish it anyway and was positively surprised
