I would recommend period paintings, look for "genre paintings", for a great resource on historical accuracy. Chardin in particular is a wonderful source for 18th century maids.

It's like a little head-wrap... I've seen all sorts of head wraps in historical costume books. Might as well look fashionable while cooking yer stew.

Why would that be bad? I figure it'd be a rectangular piece trimmed with lace, simply pinned over a cap of sorts. Keeps your hair outta the soup, and looks pretty at the same time.
I look extra fashionable: I bought a cow-printed apron a few years back and hot-glued some baby bottle nipples to the front of it. Talk about a fashion statement!

Not sure yet. When going to the festival in Quebec city, I'm usually a noblewoman. It would be beneath me to wear such plain attire.
But I'm all for blue socks though.

I know her arms are unusually long, that's why they look weird.
And I hate drawing backgrounds. I'm really terrible at them, and then usually regret drawing them because they look dumb and ruin the picture. I may add one digitally though....

I don't know why they call it flirty, I think it looks more like a happy face batting her eyelashes, which could really be anything.
I use it as a sign of appreciation, not flirting.
