No problem. You'll get it soon , you should observe your surroundings and take notes on how the tones and shadows are created when light fall on them.
You can have a small notebook/sketchbook that you carry around with you all the time, to take those notes down as reference for you future work.
It'll be like a diary but more for your observation sketches and note.
You could also use your app for this whatever you're comfortable with.
You can only improve over the time I believe you be a good artist in the future.
