Thank you very much! How can I teach you? I learn Β alone how to paint and I don't know how to teach someone else to do that.

I just want to point out to all the detractors that dA approved this as a print for sale. They're very strict with copyright, so obviously they feel that this work is "inspired by", rather than "copied from."

Well, someone thinks that is the people 's lawyer. The man said once, twice,a few times that he was inspired by teun's work.He added a link, what do you want more? I think ,as the majority does, that is a great work .Let it be.No neeed to show prople how smart you think you are.A painting is made to bring happiness to the soul and eyes .It is a saying:"Those who can not create, make criticism".

He was busted? What?!He just used a damn image that inspired him from the Internet. He showed his piece on the site to everybody,he didn't kept it hidden waiting to be "busted".And seems that the only one frustrated is you.You just can not let it go.We all understood that you know what plagiarism is,no need to keep it going. My best.

ShiroiKrow wanted to have a discussion on the idea of "copying" and I did just that. I actually looked for the literal term and even gave citations so we could all better understand. I was done talking 2 comments ago but it seems like your the one that likes to hear yourself talk.

l0st2bf0und [2013-05-16 18:38:27 +0000 UTC]

Nice work but could you at least give credit to the original artist in the description: maybe something like "Here's my interpretation of _____'s famous painting". You wouldn't have as much hate mail that way and its only right. Your whole gallery is beautiful and amazing but it's hard to give you full credibility because I don't know how much of it is actually yours or taken somewhere else.

Jezoskoczek [2013-05-16 17:40:17 +0000 UTC]

In conclusion, you liked an image you found in the Internet, but you didn't know who the author is, so... You didn't use Google Image to find out who he was, or try to do it in another way - instead you stole the whole concept, copied a pic adding some random details and had hope that nobody will find out. You didn't even link original image.
Yeah, very nice of you :] Such a shame they figured out your little theft...

I hope that somebody will copy one of your images too, claiming that "he just found it in Internet" and "it was inspiration".
Um, one? I meant rather "all of them".

Have a nice day, stupid guy from Internet. I don't care who you really are, if you are a nice man or something, maybe you have some feelings, but why would I worry about them? We are all just some unimportant Internet beings. ^____^

EvelineDaw In reply to Jezoskoczek [2013-05-16 19:28:55 +0000 UTC]

uhm.. dude, seriously? I appreciate your opinion on things but I want to point out there is a big difference between inspiration and copying.

Every piece of art is 'copied' from someone. Whether it's from a person's art, a photo or a portrait, etc. What do you think of anime or American comics? All 'copied' from each other. The artist of this piece was obviously inspired, just like the best artists in history were inspired by their masters or by certain historical subjects. The artist was creative enough to be inspired by something and create a dreamlike painting with utmost skill. This piece is original, surrealistic and well made. But this is my opinion.
I will not ask you to shut up, I don't want your criticism excluded. By all means reply or criticize, I love discussions and learn from them. Unlike some people I am not afraid to keep learning and educating myself by shutting certain influences out.

If you ask me the artist is more likely honoring the idea of the original concept, so widely inspired that he decided to create something of his own with his own message and portrayal but fundamentally the same message. Isn't that what being inspired is all about?

The art work isn't the issue, its the lack of crediting that's the big problem. Ishyndar's artwork isn't a complete copy but it is way too similar to teun's work for Ishyndar to take complete credit. What Ishyndar did was art plagiarism. Maybe this article could help?

[link]

" So first, let's look at what literary plagiarism is: taking the original ideas in another's work and reproducing it with the intent of mimicking the original. This isn't just "tracing"--or, in the literary sense, copying word-for-word another's work, even when wording is rearranged or changed slightly. You may not be wholly quoting a work if you write it in your own words, but paraphrasing it is still stealing the ideas of the original piece. You're still stealing a paper if you keep the same thesis statement and supporting details, even *if* you wrote the paper entirely in your own words.

Similarly, art plagiarism is taking the basic composition of a piece of art and using that as basis to make your own image. Many examples I've seen of art plagiarism are really just tracings with minimal self-effort thrown in. You may not have a print-out of the "reference work" directly beneath your paper, and you may even be changing which character(s) are portrayed, but that still doesn't change the fact that the composition of a piece of art is the intellectual property of the original owner. (More on intellectual property later.) Let's go back to the example of what written paraphrased plagiarism is. You're still stealing artwork if you keep the same composition and specific details/arrangement, even *if* you changed which characters are portrayed and even *if* you drew the lines without tracing them. The specific combination of elements that together combine to form the overall composition of a work is the intellectual property of the original creator."

The abstract part is Ishyndar's but the concept of a man and his fire painting belongs to someone else that Ishyndar is passing as his.

Thank you for your explanation. I agree with this statement and also believe *Ishyndar should give credit to the source of his inspiration, luckily he did so I do not think there is a problem anymore. Even so, it may be 'plagiarism' in that sense, but I don't really mind, I actually love it when artists portray their love for someone else's art by 'mimicking' it IF given credit to the original owner of course.

Anyways thanks for the explanation, I learned.
I still believe artists should be able to 'mimick' and find inspirations like this though.

I love the way you think ShiroiKrow and I wish many more were like you. As long as there is credit, a artist could mimic all they want. There isn't any harm in that at all. I mean, there's a majority of fan art in deviantart after all.

Jezoskoczek In reply to Ishyndar [2013-05-17 12:12:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I joined couple days ago, but it's not just fake account - you could easily check who am I. Of course if you'd know about existence of Google.

You asked me about opinion - you are an artist and I am viever of art. If you don't want to receive feedback, don't publish your paintings. Especially in Internet - man, it's a jungle.

I don't know you - for me you are just some guy from Internet - and that is the reason why I am offending you. You didn't know an author of original piece and that is the reason that you stole his concept. Really don't you see the irony?

You can try to defend yourself and even really think that you didn't do any bad, but YES YOU DID. Just because Teun Hocks isn't Picasso or something. He meant for you as much as a nice picture. IT WAS NOT FAIR OF YOU. So yes, I'm offending you. Because you are not someone really important. For me you are just a couple of internet posts, not a real human, not a well-known person. IT IS NOT FAIR OF ME. But who cares?

I hope that this accident will learn you something. Good luck in the future.

I like to point out the difference between copying and being inspired. I truly appreciate this artwork and I secretly love that people have such widespread opinions about it. Yes some are negative towards the piece and I do not agree with them. But at least they think. Just like to point out they think wrong.
Don't feel too much anger towards them my friend, this piece is amazing, they just need to learn not to be offensive, but criticism can always be used.

Furthermore there are more people here who appreciate your work than offend it, they are a minority.

I think it's amazing and I'm happy I saw it on Facebook.
