The great Leonard Nimoy has died, age 83.

There’s not really much I can write about the chap or his impact on sci-fi culture that you’re not already aware of. We all knew and loved him as Spock from Star Trek. Hell, I named one of my webcomic’s characters after him.
Nimoy never forgot about his fans, either, and how it is they who ensured his lasting popularity. It’s telling that it was he who cameoed in the recent Trek films and not Shatner.
Being the awesome man he was, his final words to the public (by way of twitter) were “LLAP”.
“Live Long and Prosper”.

Actually, the reason why old Kirk wasn't around in the reboot was because they had maneuvered themselfs into a pretty bad hole when Kirk died in ST:Generations. In the end it was Shatner himself who steped back once he realised that would have served no purpose to bring the entire Nexus into the game just so he could have a cameo.

He gave us the Vulcan Greeting and the Vulcan Neckpinch - both imitated and spoofed in so many films and tv-series. He became the icon of logical thinking, opposite of the irrational acting of humans in conflicts.
I just watched TOS Mirror, Mirror - in his honor. He plays the Mirror Spock admirable. I liked him with his beard better, gave him character. Just like McCoy says...

He will be missed. I remember him from his non-Star Trek works, like his roles in The Outer Limits or Fringe. He's had a long and varied career/life.

I met him on my birthday during the Emerald City Comic-Con a few years ago. I didn't get an autograph, just wanted to thank him. He's the reason I'm going to into science as a profession.
It was an honor meeting him, and we all will miss him.
