Download for full-size image.This morning I noticed how large my stack of "unused" sketches had gotten, so I decided to go through them and I found quite a few sketches of Jaden I had never scanned in. Most of them were crap (don't know why I kept them
) but this one looked okay. I don't know why I never scanned it in. I'd like to think it was because I was hard at work on commissions, but it was probably just laziness 
. So I just cleaned the lines a bit and decided to make this a pic of when Jaden was still an apprentice.For those not familiar with the story in the game "Jedi Academy", Jaden Korr (a unisex name in case you want to create a male Jaden
) is a Force sensitive who built her own lightsaber without any training, which got the attention of Luke and his Academy. She was assigned Kyle Katarn's apprentice. Halfway through the game Jaden loses her lightsaber and has to build a new one (which could be dual lightsabers or a double-blade, but I just give her another single saber ). Luke also annoints her a Jedi Knight.So Jaden's first lightsaber is green. The color of her second lightsaber will be determined by her skin color (which I still haven't decided on
) A purple saber if she's blue or blue saber if she's red (maybe I should do a poll). I'm also still working on the design of her body tattoos, which I just realized I forgot the tatts on her lekku

I really wanted to do a new drawing to unveil my choosing red Jaden. But with all the work I need to catch up on, it's going to be awhile before I'm able to draw anything new for myself. So I just modified my Jaden apprentice pic to make the outfit she wears as an apprentice look more like it does in the game, as well as redo her first lightsaber (in the game it's called a "Retaliator"). Also filled in the base colors and added a little reflective glow, which I think I'm going to start doing in more of my pics

I did manage to finish coloring a few things while I was away. I think I finished this one back in Novemeber or Decemeber. I just remember it was cold

If I had Star Wars:Jedi Academy, I would probably create a Kel Dor Jaden or a more ethnic Jaden Korr.

Like it, normaly i go for a human female, when i play it two times, one in easy padawan, the other in jedi normal, the first time in thehalf i use a double edge sword, i love it, the second one i have two ligth sabers

I loved that game. the fun part is when you do multi-player and give people force powers and a lightsaber. I usually gave boba fett a double-bladed, even though that is not even possible, but hey it was fun.

Very nice! I'm not familiar with the game or the character (though I've heard of her/him in passing), but I'm really diggin' the white markings/tattoos on her red skin--sort of a Light-Side mirror of Darth Talon!

The human Jaden's really got gypped in the game. They only have three hair styles and you can't even change the color nor their skin tone. The Zabraks got a better deal, even though they only have three heads as well, at least their horns look cool. And they got better outfits than the humans. But it seems like the Twi'lek got most of the options, even counting the male Jadens, so I think based on the response of Aayla in the comics and Ep II they kinda expected most players to favor the Twi'lek, so why they made Jaden canonly male is just poor judgment on their part.

Yeah, I wish the human Jadens had more to choose from. Different hair would certainly be a plus... I have the PC version, so I go hunting for mods every once in a while; I once found one that gave some different clothes, but they weren't all that different from the game's original ones. I like the Zabraks' horns, too; the face tattoos are interesting as well. Maybe next time I play I'll play as one of those.

I hated using the double bladed, it seems so... clumsy. Sure some of the moves look good...
I prefer double myself, though I've lately been playing single for it's variation.

As cool as it was using the double-blades and dual sabers the first few times playing the game the novelty does wear off. There's just so much more you can do with the 3 saber fighting styles a single blade offers. My favorite moves are the special "Obi-Wan overhead flip-saber strike" in medium style, and the "Force pull-stab" in fast style.

that's hit the nail on the head. Alot of the moves with the double and dual lightsabers LOOK good,but aren't as effective against multiple lightsaber-weilding foes

I like the image, but the blue lipstick and the green saber give it too much of a christmassy feel too me.

Her lipstick is actually purple, but I guess all the red surrounding it does give it a blue-ish look, but I'm sure it will look more purple once I add contrasting highlights and shading.
And I was on a vacation I had originally planned on not having, but ending up going after all

Reading your chat about this Jedi Academy game and the level of customization you're allowed really makes me wish I had an Xbox to play it on. I know there's a PC version, but I don't use my computer for gaming.

Thanks. For the longest time I didn't know what color I was going to use for her tattoos. My blue Jaden would have had gray tattoos, but gray didn't look that good against red skin. And I didn't want to go black, like Darth Talon, since Jaden's outfit was mostly black. It was actually Ahsoka with her facial tattoos against her brown-redish skin that helped me decided to go with a slightly off-white color for Jaden's tattoos.

Beautiful. She reminds me of my Jaden with the red skin and the outfit, but the white tattoo's (are they tattoo's) are a wonderful touch of originality.

Thanks. I don't think they've ever said the body markings on Twi'leks were tattoos, sometimes the markings look random and natural, like Aayla's, but then other characters, like Darth Talon have specific patterns. But some Twi'leks don't have markings at all, like Mission. But I do think of them as tattoos.
The game does have some interesting lightsaber designs, but a few them are just way too big to fit the hands of a female Jaden, so I just went with sabers that she looks good holding.

Hehehe, yeah, just another mistake made by whoever's in charge of the EU canon. But not only do I disregard their canon for Jaden, but wholeheartedly protest it, for the simple fact that the voice actor they got for male Jaden sucked the saggy left wrinkly

I really doubt Lucas gives much thought about the EU. First of all it's way too big for him to decide on every detail. I would bet the last time he paid attention to the EU was when he told them to kill off Anakin Solo, and that was because he thought it might interfere with his movies.

What was your favorite saber type? I preferred double mainly for the speed.

When the game first game out I went double-bladed as soon as Jaden needed to build a new lightsaber. Then I tried dual sabers. It wasn't until I started playing the game again early last year that I was more into single sabers (thanks to all the cool saber action in Episode III). Now I hardly ever use double or dual blades. There's just so much you can do with a single blade. You have special moves for each of the three styles (fast, medium, strong). Its just more fun for me

But seriously, with human characters dominating the movies, novels, and comics, even the Knights of the Old Republic game, to be able to play as another race in Jedi Academy was the ****!! Especially a Twi'lek

Its a shame that the Star wars universe is so dominated by human characters, I mean there are so many races to choose from and yet its still extremly rare when the main character is a non human.

Yeah, I've played the game with a Zabrak a couple of times, still lots of fun
I did base this outfit on attire you can give the Twi'lek Jaden. It's not 100 % accurate, I've modified a few things but the armor on her legs and arm are fairly accurate.
