snake represent his ability control over time and space. three coils of snake also represent his abiltiy of past,present,future the all knowing and the important thing the snake is the symbol of kundalini shakti(spiritual energy inside human which arouse through yoga by awakening 7 chakras of body it rise in thr form of snake) and the snake around his neck is not ordinary u can say it is another body of shiva it is one of the 8 great dragon kings(8 great immortal snakes of lotus sutra), in chinese,japanese buddhisim known as vasuki(bada-longwang) of cobra species his speciality is that he posses a divine snake stone on his head or hood whcih also make him the king of snake race on the palnet. it also represents that humans feared from snake snake is dangerous thing by attaining control of mind even a animal like snake could do nothing. according to a story during his maariage with godess parvati female power of cosmos he giftef him snake as jewlellery of neck and hand and there godess parvati mother nature in his raw nature primordial enrgy manifestation of godess kali also wear snake
