Description
One of my favorite female game characters from one of my new favorite games, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. I love the game so much. The cg movies were so good and all those crazy sakura trees were so pretty. This game has a really great storyline and two lovable characters: Soki and Akane. XD I can't wait to play all its prequels!!
Akane is a really energetic, cheerful character so I decided to draw her in this pose. It sure was hard to draw the suit. You don't realize how much effort is put into people's character designs until you decide to draw the characters yourself. It was craziness.
The part I'm most proud of in this drawing are the feet. I'm usually terrible at those, but it actually doesn't look half bad here. Makes me so happy!!

O no. She is Jubei. Her real name is Akane, but she inherits the name Jubei through her grandfather, I think. I'm more used to her Jubei name too, but I wanted to be a little technical so I used her real name.

Thanks! It IS complex. Darn, about her face. O well. Nice about finishing Shadow of the Colossus. Someone sure got mad when I told her about that. Just kidding. Anyway, you should totally play Onimusha. It's too good. I'm sad I already don't remember how cool it is though.

I think you chose the perfect pose for her. Really like the soft glow feel to this piece. The sakura trees add to that effect. Yes, her outfit does seem pretty complex now, especially because of the armor. I agree with the feet. You handled that part well. I liked how you did her leg armor too. It looks solid and good highlights on them too.
For critique, I would say that her face seems kind of long. Also, her neck seems a bit short. I don't know if you were trying to do a view from above with foreshortening or something. The gray background could use more atmosphere with the use of uneven colored areas, but that's only a suggestion.

What did I tell you. Their suits are crazy and it's funny how you don't realize it until you draw them.
Anyway, thank you so much for the comments and critique! She was supposed to be looking up at us more, but guess I kinda failed showing that effect. And her head was flatter before, but I didn't like it so I guess it turned out longer when I tried to fix that. Man, foreshortening is tough stuff.
