Description
The demon that haunted my teeth. I don't have hyperdontia, but after failed braces and terrible hygiene all throughout my academic career, I finally have a set of chompers that are straight and healthy. To celebrate my last Invisalign set, I drew this demon out of me. Meet Hyperdontius.Now brush yo goddamn teeth!

I see that it's a beautiful piece of artwork created by something that actually happened to you, but it's still very freaky and sets off my trypophobia because I had no idea what hyperdontia meant until I googled it XD

I literally, laughed out loud. Its really a great design, but the story behind it makes it a classic. Awesome work on this. Great colors and just totally interesting to look at, excellent form and I love the presentation.

Also, at the same time, I utterly adore the horror side of this - I have extremely bad teeth myself, though not nearly as bad as they used to be, so your story has sentimental value.

Uuuuuuuunnnghh... SO MUCH BEAUTY. I have gotten tired of the typical dragons and reptilian creatures, so the leonine face on this, balanced out by the shape of the rest of the head, is really really refreshing to me. I can't even begin to fathom the lighting on this, as well - it is outstandingly good. Utterly outstanding. Did you do a lot of studies to figure out the lighting and how much editing of the form you wanted, or was this all just a single shot luck of the draw? In any case, it is something I freaking aspire to.
When I feel dismayed by the level of rendered exactitude from the like of VeraMundis' extremely smooth brushwork, coming back to your work lets me see that texture and hard lines can make imagery just as beautiful, and sometimes even more beautiful in its own way.

Thank you! ^^~ The lighting was actually rather difficult. I knew
that sharp rim light on the edge of the form needed to be there, so the
restΒ of the face was illuminated by a subtle, more ambient light. But
once I got to the rim light, the shape of his face proved troublesome
and it had to be reworked several times before looking correct. I'm sure
there's still inaccuracies (because I didn't use direct reference, eep).
In general, though, I do study lighting and shadows. They're my
favorite thing to examine when I'm.. anywhere, really xD Even waiting
in line at the grocery store has a bounty of information.
He even had hollow eyes at first, then filled eyes with pupils and
everything, but both weren't fitting. Instead I left the pupils out to
make the sclera look more like the demon's normal flesh - after all,
this is a tooth demon, not an eye demon. ;3
Aye, many artists make use of smoothness and intricacies, perfection
on a canvas.Β It can yield fantastic results, but it is one method among
a wide variety 
some of the work- leaving things in shadow, keeping brush strokes
alive, letting the sketch show through, that sort of thing. If you want
to try this or any other method, please do! I love seeing your work
in any sense~
