Very beautifull indeed, quick update though, the Mayans never said the world would end, their calendar just ended and like our calendar resetted on january first 2013, theirs should have restarted aswell, but they ran out of calendars. So some new-age hippie smoked to much and called it the end of the world, too bad he wasn't smokin' alone and the word spread.
The world did not end, it allowed you to make this beautifull picture, may you photograph many more like this, may this be true for many photographers for the next 4.5 billion years, that's when the sun turns into a red dwarf and engulfs the first four planets.

For the record, life will be impossible much sooner on earth. In about 1 to 1.5 billion years, the sun will have grown too hot so earth will have left the habitable zone. The oceans will boil, and later sunwinds will remove the atmosphere and even later earth will return to its original state - a huge rock of lava. In 5 billion years, the sun will fill the complete sky, and the earth will fall into the sun because its getting slowed down by the suns atmosphere. The habitable zone will at that point be at Pluto.
Fortunately, considering the advance mankind made in the past 5,000 years since the invention of scripture, we can be pretty sure we'll be able to move elsewhere long before any of this happends. Unless our own progress itself manages to kills us, of course. Like our drastic exploitation of earths ressources.

All very true, but me, nor my great great... grandchildren will be around to see it. I hope after that humanity is able to move elsewhere.
So untill then no doomsday scenario from Filistines, Egyptians,Mayans or Morons will be able to convince me unless I have full audiovisual scientific proof funded by at least a hundred reputable scientists working in different fields en countries and all coming to the same conclusion.
And with Scientists I mean the caliber of Stephen Hawking, David Morrison, Albert Einstein, Oppenheimer and the likes. Not some wacko new age self-proclaimed scientist with a funny hat and some unfunded theories concocted on a mixture of reefers and coke.
