Can't wait to see the final product! There's just not enough Shallan art out there! Though I am somewhat sad that her safehand isn't visible in this pic, I love seeing peoples designs for those.

There will be other illustrations with the ladies in them in the future.

Looking lovely, krhart! I'm really enjoying it, "crappy" picture and all. I have to ask, did you blow up the original sketch and retrace it? or how are you going about this?

Thanks! I do a lot of different ways depending on what look I'm trying to go for. If its sketchy or loose, I'd just draw it freehand or do it in one go (this is what I mostly do). If its a clean and tight drawing that I want a specific end result in, I either lightbox a blown-up thumbnail, or use a fine grade marker paper on top of a blown up sketch or thumbnail, which I'm doing here. I only lightbox for inking usually but I haven't done much of that in the last 2 years or so. Once the drawing is transferred enough, I ditch the under drawing and go at it so I don't lose any energy or restrict myself too much in case I want to change direction with it.

I cannot wait to see the finished piece!
last time I lightboxed anything was using our department's lightbox, this massive table that's like 5 x 6 feet of just lightboxing lol. now i just have a small box that doesn't work nearly as much. Never thought about marker paper, but it makes sense.

I'd have a blast with a huge lightbox. I actually started using marker paper because of how it handles erasing and its lack of any kind of tooth. The only downside is its pretty prone to getting dents and creases, but not as much as a tracing paper.

makes a lot of sense. im contemplating using that as a means to get my lineart done then scan. are you finishing it all traditionally, or digitally?

I am really not sure yet, and might leave it as it is or do a digital sepia wash for these. I'm starting to want to work mostly in traditional/pencils lately, but when it comes time to do the action fan-art works, digital might take over again.

I work mostly with traditional media, and while it's awesome, it takes forever! usually I end up going back to digital because of it's amazing speed <3

Same here. I have at least 2 other images to do with her in them. Jasnah should be fun to do.

They're coming! Those will be very detail heavy and probably digital.
