STXI - Pencil line work with digital coloring. August 2009.Inspired by Sidara's fic Subtracting the Stars [link] this isn't a scene from the story but rather a reinterpretation. In her brilliant story, immediately following the final battle in the movie Jim works himself to the edge for the sake of the ship and crew, and I believe at some point McCoy renders him unconscious for the sake of his health. I was inspired to show the aftereffects and in doing so, I was struck by the dichotomy of the advanced medical equipment in the med bay contrasted to a subconscious effort on McCoy's part to gauge Kirk's physical condition through a simple reassuring touch.
At least, that's what I was going for.

This is really good,luv...and you are right,about McCoy and using touch when all the fancy stuff is right there...I have been a nurse for many years,and I have done the same thing many,many times...Sometimes the patient responds much better to treatment if someone just takes the time to offer a touch,make contact with them on a personal level...You have good instincts,luv!!

Okay, usually I'm totally gung-ho about your background and stuff (and I still am, the screens are gorgeous), but McCoy's expression here. KILLED. ME. You captured it so perfectly, his gruff, but concentrated expression with anxiousness seeping through subtly. <3<3<3

Can I only add a bit of constructive [I hope] criticism:
It looks like only Kirk's head is lying on the the bed and the rest of his body is floating. It's given by the bed which is not completely horizontal and Kirk's body which is.. almost.
I hope you aren't offended. :]
Love your gallery by the way, your way of drawing them.. has drawn me in. Although I'm a TOS!er :'D, I hope you continue with the great work!
