Hahahaha! I knew my choice of words wasn't the best, but was too lazy to change and expand and drew a blank...
We do not see what you have photographed. Our vision has limitations your lens doesn't. Our brain has therefore to compensate in order to make sense of it completely.
For instance, it takes an effort (not necessarily great, but the fact it does is relevant) to ascertain both end scope water masses are level. And then the shore line on the left shows a surge higher than the bog just behind. Then there is the lighting which increases certain perception biases (the aurora's reflection on the inlet) and even the circular shape of its central design put our (brain-rewritten) perception to the test.
I know you may not see it, as you have made it, so the bias is mostly gone. A bit like an optical illusion you create. You cease to see it.
Sorry for not being able to be clearer. I had tried to avoid this long comment by just saying "lens deformation" which was an error and a misleading shortcut.
I have noticed writing this reply, that I wasn't the only one sensitive to this effect.
