Okay, so this was super quick- I doodled it out of excitement for my 'Big-Huge-Senior-Canvas-Project' idea, which will be Medusa with her sunglasses being removed, scarf around her neck- sort of a sassy/passive look on her face, eyes wide and silver and such- and I have't started it yet because apparently I have to do a still-life first (stupid teacher) But (since I'm talkin' traditional painting) She's gonna look similar to this, only with oil paint and she'll look realistic...I'm so excited, so yep. Doodled her up and threw color on her (its awful, but I'm just too excited to really care a whole bunch!) Same here! Not a big fan of Roman Mythology though. I feel that they took the Greek ideas and made them "better"

Yeah... and even their art was just a recreation of the greeks, yet the Romans get all the credit sometimes... its annoying haha

Incredibly! Makes me wonder if the Romans are either giant fans(making "their" OC's when really it's just like the original) or complete creeps that copy every thing.

Yeah! Like... eh, I dunno. I guess they were striving for perfection- and the best flattery is mimicking, right? (Doesn't make it any better, of course.) But it helps to see it as flattery some times....

I think it's great! How exciting is that. I love the face silhouette too, though I know it's probably more stylized than your final project... which will also be lovely, surely!

Haha- I've always adored mythology (its just fun to study and the Greek art is fascinating) I know Medusa isn't often shown as beautiful or even mildly good (because, well...you know the story haha) but I want to make her sort of pretty, almost. Like, her snake hair can actually be really cool- and since snakes curl up all funny, it could resemble sort of the 50's curl/wave look, so.. yeah. And, I'm almost flinging her into a modern society with the sunglasses and scarf I plan to use, sort of like she was gonna blend in using those as her disguises. ..and the random idea of having a rattlesnake tail as a widow's peak on her forehead and the scales drifting down into almost-freckles (and following the shape of a widows peak) was random and just sort of hit me, but I'm utterly in love with the idea! I just want to start the painting!!!! Haha
