The level of detail is astounding, mostly I am awed by the high precision of clothes (You precisely drew the parts were material clothing is stitched/seamed)...

Was this done on Mi-tiennes paper? What did you do to get the white areas? How large is it and how long did it take you?

it is, and i used a white conté pencil, the size must be about 50 x 70 cm. and i think it took about 4 or 5 hours.

Your work is very beautiful. I recently purchased a conte pencil set. It has some graphite, charcoal, and conte pencils (a twelve tin set). Do you use the conte sticks sometimes?

Sure, each will give you a different finish in your drawings, i use bars whenever i´m making a really big drawing or a quick sketch.

Those conte sticks? Do you use the compressed charcoal or compressed graphite sticks sometimes? I'm a self taught artist taking my first Drawing I class at the local university. 8) I'm still trying to find my favorite medium.

well, you´ll find any presentation of a material comfortable in a different manner, i do recommend you try everything from the art stores, but that wouldn´t be cheap! both graphite and charcoal bars may be similar in their appearance but couldn´t be far more distant in their capabilities. You can get a lot of texture with charcoal, either pencil or bars, but maybe you can achieve more tone value with any graphite presentation, the thing with charcoal is it doesn´t really need a lot of skill to achieve interesting effects, you can always smudge or try any kind of trick graphite maybe won´t let you get away with.

Vellum is great, it has that last layer that makes it just perfect, i bought a sketchbook when i went to the u.s.a. but haven´t found one where i live since then, they do sell other strathmore brand ones, but not that one. They do sell Canson, and it´s not that expensive, but otherwise you can try out that homemade paper some people sell, it´s so random you get really interesting stuff with it. These days i have been working on Thin Fabriano. Entering an art store, for me is just like a child going into a candy shop, i´m really anxious to try everything out, and run out of money right away, then there´s that guilt afterwards, ha!

whew! can´t blame you, there are some things that´ll cost you so much, single things that is, like a professional rechargable stylograph kit, some oil paint, the professional stuff, may be really costy as well, but it´s all worth it, as long as you know what you need instead of buying everything you can afford, the only thing i wish is some stuff you didn´t run out as quick

thank you. I didn´t mean myself but the person portrayed in the drawing, you see here it is a common catholic tradition at easter, it´s called Procesión, and consists in the re-enacting of the cruxifiction of Christ. It´s rather symbolic, but as i am aware that it might look like those other guys outfit i thouhgt of making myself clear, i guess i didn´t put it right. sorry if i mispelled anything, kinda rusty with my english.

thanks for the fave!, the person portrayed isn´t kkk if that is what you mean, he´s part of a catholic celebration which takes place in most of latin america, sorry if the description didn´t make it clear!
