Dudes. DUDES. I suffered doing this. Why?I did a ton of those. I painted, actually painted, fists. Like, no outlines, or anything. I never do that. And all to somewhat backgruond? It did generate a nice pattern

and you guys can have a better look and tell me anything you like more. Just to help me in general.
The original idea for this was doing a complex background with a lot of elements, but the more I toyed around, the more I became more found of this "cleaner" (more like easier) version. I like messing with shapes and patterns much more than details, so... Yeah. Help me choose or meddle with it until we come up with something I enjoy for it if you guys want to. I don't know what this is

I was drawn to this piece because it's quite an eyecatcher and I like it a lot. First of all, you did a great job with the contrast, using mostly flat, bright colors and clear shapes. The colors themselves are pretty symbolic, of course. I like that you drew a very masculine guy sorrounded by colors that are usually considered to be "girly" or "sissy" colors. I also spot other symbols, for example, his shirt looks like the bisexual pride flag and of course, there's the pink triangle in the background. I'm not sure if those were intentional or if I'm just reading too much into it, but it looks like you're subverting the stereotype that gay and bi men are all acting effeminate and "unmanly". This impression is emphasized by the background fists and his rather self-confident pose. Your character looks like someone who will stand up and fight for his identity, instead of acting meek and passive. And that's something I really like and also a very positive message.
In terms of composition, I think you did a good job, too. The white frame adds some depth and makes the triangle and the character stand out. It's especially notable if I compare the final picture with the version without a frame - it's a simple thing, but it has a great effect. The character is right in the center and he stands out from the background and the viewer's eye is drawn to him. The only thing that I have to criticize here is that he doesn't stand out quite as well from the triangle. I think this is in part because part of his hair is pink as well, but also because the fist pattern makes it a bit harder to know where to look first. (The pattern looks beautiful, by the way, great job with the hands!) I think you could set him apart a bit, if you added a visible shadow behind him on the triangle or maybe a white silhouette. It might also help to have more visible outlines for the jacket, either by making the base color a lighter shade or by using very light lines - white sometimes looks surprisingly good as outline for black base colors.

Long story short, although Bastien isn't bi, or queer, I am. He was a character that worked somewhat as a representation of myself, made during rough times. He got me through them, so I use him a lot to represent my own strengh and world. Tho, here, once again, the objective with the triangle has to do with the symbols of his own world, and the pink is coicidental - just the most important on his palette.
Other than that, thank you so much, dude!! I've been scratching my head about what's wrong with this piece for a while now, so I hope I can work something with the contrast!

Oh man! That looks like a lot of work! Work well worth it. I like this version quite a bit since it has all the elements you created, the bold bright limited palette you used, and the character front and center, not distracted by anything else!
