Description
This is the Work in Progress picture of the "Iron throne" made for the upcoming concordance "The World of Ice and Fire" by Grr Martin, for Random House.All I can say is that the book will be awesome.
PS: Please note that it isn't the final one, and that I can't sell prints of it.

It's beautiful work, even if it isn't the fished product. To me, it looks a lot more like the descriptions of George RR Martin. I thing you've done a bang up job!

When one sword isn't enough. Make thousands and have them build up as your chair, so that you can laugh at everyone, while you sit far above them.

Magnificent... Congratulations on depicting it just as George R.R. Martin had intended. I can practically feel how intimidating anyone appears when they're seated on it. It's no wonder Joffrey got whatever he wanted for so long.

This makes sense, you're supposed to be able to cut yourself on this monstrosity, not have it be a lovely organized little chair. Its supposed to be ugly and big. You got that down nice.

It's also supposed to be so big that it can't be moved. The Throne in the show looks heavy, but get a couple strong guys, maybe a horse or two, and we'll get that thing out'athere in no time

do you remember the part where little finger comments on how the throne is not made out of a thousand blades, just barely 200. your version of the iron throne is probably what such a mighty chair would look like if there were a thousand blades in that throne. good job.

That's in the show, since they had to scale it down for filming/production purposes. In the books, it is a thousand, possibly more, and George R. R. Martin himself has said that this this one is the one that he'd pictured when he writes about it.

This is amazing! It is so much bigger than I imagined, even after reading the books (which I read before I watched the show).Β
There is a post about this on tor.com which linked to GRRM's blog in which he says that this is the closest ANYONE has ever come to depicting the Iron Throne that he sees in his mind when he is writing his books.Β
So, congratulations! I can't wait to see the final version in the concordance.

After reading the books, I really can't stand the way the iron throne looks on the show. I'm sure the creators probably had to size it down due to budget issues, but it's just not as intimidating or beautiful as it is in the books. I would have loved to see this on the show.
