It's such a shame seeing the painted version of this at retail, they have sloppy paint-jobs and look half-assed. I'm glad I can see what the sculpts are supposed to look like here in your gallery, incredible!

MarkNewman In reply to duducaico [2008-06-03 15:09:56 +0000 UTC]

This was sculpted in Super Sculpey.

duducaico In reply to MarkNewman [2008-06-04 01:06:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh... and what kind of material this one would be? A kind of wax?
(I don't make sculptures, I'm just curious, sorry for bothering)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MarkNewman In reply to duducaico [2008-06-04 14:39:15 +0000 UTC]

Super sculpey is a polymer clay not a wax.
Polymer clay you bake in your oven to harden.
Wax would melt.

I think this is my favorite so far of your pieces, she has an incredible sense of movement, and she looks very intent on her purpose as well. Is she one of a kind or have you done any sort of castings of her?

This one is being produced and sold by Master Replicas / Corgi Int.

Incredible!! Thank you! an awesome price for her too. Although I must admit, I think she's more striking when unpainted...but I'm blah that way. lol.

As a growing sculptor, can you give any words on how you made such a strong armature to hold the figure up? I am having trouble making a figure stand on two legs, much less float through the air. I've reduced my figures to an upper torso, and massed the legs into a pile of rocks.
