Did this Dolph Lundgren He-Man from the 1987 live action movie for this month's 80s movie hero theme over at Planet-Pulp .This is not an easy costume to draw. In fact, I faked my way through most of it. I'm not all that great at getting likenesses down, but I'm pretty pleased with how his He-Mullet turned out at least.

the problem is the costume isnt the classic and the movie failed on so many levels you did a good job on what they gave you to work with

Thanks! I always liked the costume designs in the movie. I think if the story represented the people and places we were familiar with in the cartoons a bit more, it would have been fine. Bringing it to Earth and adding all these new characters when there was already a great roster to begin with were bad moves. I never liked He-Man using guns, either. Yuck.

Wow, this is one of the best illustrations for He-Man I've seen and I've seen A LOT! I can't believe Dolph has been overlooked until now.

Thanks! Ever since this movie came out, most of my He-Man drawings as a kid had him wearing the cape. I always thought it was a nice touch. I still think this is a mighty cool costume design, but there's just a whole bunch of other stuff I didn't like about that movie. I still enjoy the heck out of it, though!

Thanks a lot! I had the movie theme in my head the entire time I drew it. If I'd spent more than 2 minutes looking, I probably would have been able to find the CD. Would have been a lot easier than looking the songs up on YouTube, probably. Oh well.
