I'm not sure about the gray background, maybe a green one would make the horse stand out more, but alas that's
just my opinion, and you did a great job on the horse

Thank you! Oh yes, green! It never crossed my mind but I can really see it in green now and that would have been great.. I think I will do something with a colored background next time I do something similar to this

Yes they are terrible, very hard to control and go into detail with. Very challenging! I dont know why I fancy them so much, but I really love working with them even though they are so.

Just a question, how do you manage to get the colour so even and smooth? Is there a technique I'm missing there? I probably use them all wrong I'm so used to my charcoal!

I use the "long side" of the pastel. And sometimes (for example if the color I am using lets the color fot he paper shine trough too much) I go over with a soft brush to make the pastel fall nicely in the velour

Thats interesting you use a brush, I never thought of that, but yes it would smooth the colours out. Hmm, I think I'll be brave and give them another try. If you've only been using them a few months I commend you! It looks like you've always used them!
