Lore and Description:
Vintar-K, or KRK-61, is a light machine gun developed by Gora Vur, belonging to the "Vintar" family of weapons. The gun is exceptionally light and mobile for an LMG, thanks to a substantial use of lightweight metals and polymers in its design. It is chambered in 6.4 × 56 mm, a widespread rifle cartridge, and fed by disintegrating ammo belts. A novel feature of this weapon is its side-opening feed cover, which allows the ammo belt to be replaced without interfering with the top-mounted accessory rail. Optics mounted on the rail thus have a more rigid base and do not lose zero as easily. An adjustable gas block has a special setting for adverse conditions. Although heavier MGs which are more destructive or capable of longer sustained fire are available on the market, the Vintar-K gained popularity among Rotharnian troops thanks to its compact size, low weight and convenient features.
Inspiration and Background Information:
The design is mainly inspired by Kalashnikov RPL-20 light machine gun prototype, but the side-opening feed system is based on the FN EVOLYS.
