I am holding this canine design auction as a fundraising effort for my dear friend, Leslie, who is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator located in Idaho. 100% of the earnings on this auction will be donated to her and her cause.

Leslie and I interned together at a zoological facility in 2013 and have remained friends ever since; she works primarily with rehabilitating native birds of prey (especially lots of young barn owls!) and is working on transitioning her wildlife rehab into a non-profit, and is also working on acquiring her education permit. She is highly regarded not only in Idaho but across the United States. Acquiring non-profit status as well as an education permit is a lengthy and expensive process, as facilities have to be built up to code, application fees and paperwork drown a person, etc. She is seeking donations in order to reach these goals; if you would like to check out more about her story, please click here to access her rehab's Facebook Page:

I decided to make a design that was loosely inspired by one of the species she predominantly works with-- barn owls! Anyone else here a barn owl fan? Barn owls (Tyto alba) consume significant amounts of mice and voles each year, and are a benefit to agriculture. Their ear holes are at slightly different locations on each side of their skull, which allows them to triangulate locations of prey through sound. The heart-shaped disc of facial feathers acts as a satellite to funnel and hone in on these sounds! Pretty amazing, huh? Did you know European Barn owls tend to be more muted in color than the American subspecies? Just a few fun facts for you!

I will contact you via Note or comment in regards to winning this auction. You will be able to send payment via PayPal. You will have up to 48 hours to pay after the bid closes; if you fail to pay within the 48 hours, the next highest bidder will have a chance to pay and obtain the design.
