Oh. Em. Goodness, thank you so much CamossDarkfly for reminding me of this commission!This is one of the commissions I finished before my laptop crashed and fell apart and all my files were sucked into a black hole. I'm so glad he had the originals so I could post them!
So this is a bit of a different vibe from the norm which I do rather enjoy. This is a scene where both Nick and Judy are rather disturbed after finding a body
And the site wasn't a pretty one. Nick quietly tries to comfort Judy while she is in shock, and I feel that Nick's saving grace in this moment, something that is protecting him from the trauma of what the witnessed is that he is focusing on Judy's mental and emotional well being. Doing so allows him to avoid processing what he has seen and allows him to, for the time being, ignore it....But later on, he'll have to face the music too

I am rather proud of this one, one for the different vibe and two because I was able to experiment a little with different techniques, such as the lighting from the police cruiser. I had particular fun doing the graffiti on the wall, and props to anyone who can figure out what its saying
Its pretty important to the story that CamossDarkfly is writing. Anywho, I hope you enjoy!

working with the mob, i'd imagine nick has seen his share of screwed up stuff, so i don't think he'd be that afflicted by it, yea, the shock of it or initial repulsion, but i don't think it'd mess him up nearly as badly as judy. nice work!

You know, it's interesting to see all the varied opinions on why Nick isn't reacting as severely as Judy in this scene. He worked for the mob, he was on the streets, never let them see that they get to you, etc. So many different ways to interpret the scene. I hope my writing does this artwork justice, and helps explain Nick's behaviour here...

oh, i don't think there's anything wrong with how it's portrayed, i just think this wouldn't hit nick as heavily, at least shock value wise, as judy. he'd still feel grief over some mammal getting killed, but it'd be more of a jaded "this again" type of thing, not like judy's "oh my god, how can people do this!?" type reaction. X3

I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when you first emailed this to me, TheWinterBunny . It provided a great visual reference for me when I was writing the scene, and I was literally crying myself when I finished it. You captured the emotions and feel perfectly, and the cruiser's strobe lighting adds the perfect effect to this pivotal scene.
Everyone, please take a moment to admire the detail and the work she put into this, from the litter, to the unswept dry leaves, to the lighting from the cruiser, to the walls and dumpster covered in graffiti. And yes, the graffiti says something.
