Description I know.. why cows you ask....

I went to a secondhand store to find props for my superstition series. They have 'grab bags' of stuff for $2.00 and I was challenged to get one of these bags and shoot whatever was in it but it has to be postable on dA. The challenge was on and I ended up with two salt and pepper shakers in the shape of cows

Aside from that I did have intention and something to say (as always I know.. chatterbox that I am) and whether or not I did that for you all, I don't know, but the exercise was therapeutic on many levels.

P.S Goodbye my friend, I love you.

i do apologize the individual tagged you in the post and all i seen was your name and the comment was deleted so it took me a while to figure out that there was an original commenter and your name was all i could see.I just don't appreciate someone telling me im ignorant and that i need to go to art school when there own submission looks like rainbow bright threw up on it not to mention there portfolio is made from a wix site. I dont know what that was all about. But my original post was not attacking anyone personally or fighting i merely stated facts that neither entries that won the contest had anything to do with witches of east end and did not follow the guidelines at all.

Fair enough that you made a mistake but similarly, someone coming to my page and telling me how much I suck and how terrible my submissions are, does nothing to make my day.

I have to be honest, you set my day off terribly.

I really like how this photograph flourishes with creativity and emotion. It is astounding how many different forms of art there are, and this little masterpiece, though simple...is one of the best I've seen in a while. Great work!

You know, I was just kind of looking through my favorites for no particular reason and I saw this again. I still love it, maybe even more than I did before. Just wanted to say again it's so shocking how moving two little ceramic cows can be. Someday I'll order a print of this one, as soon as I can find some wall space!

I hope things are going well for you lately, I miss ya chickie!

the lighting, yet again, is really good here. i like all the little points of light on the cows. they really seem more "important" becaue the shot is so close up. if that makes any sense. they really come to life. there is just such a tenderness mixed with sadness here. which is amazing because you were using props you didn't even choose. thank you so much for the informative description. without it the image wouldn't have been as moving i think. whatever happened to these two shakers?

they're so cute in their rollypolliness..but otherwise it's just so sad i can almost see tears in their eyes...and it has such old b&w drama movie lighting thing going on... big goodbye scene....heartbreaking

It was interesting taking something so innocent and trying to depict something so painful for me.. the irony (that I never shared with anyone) is that the cow lying down is actually broken. The head was broken from the body when I bought it and I didn't glue it back together I just placed them in such a way that the support from the other was holding the broken one together..

anyhow just a little insight for you because you tend to look at things with similar outlooks to my own

....wow... i felt like the lying down cow was maybe alseep or dieing or something..and to know that he really was broken

thank you for sharing

I didn't like it at first, but every time I look at this image, it grows on me.

The funny thing is, from one second to the next, I can't predict if it means everything or nothing.

Like there's so much pent-up feeling there. But they're just porcelain. But they're speaking. I dunno. All in all, I think it's a good shot.

Ya know, only you can take a picture of two cow salt and pepper shakers, show it to me, and instead of laughing as a response, make me feel kind of sad. I'm impressed, and I'd say you did a darn good job with the challenge.
