Poor Tess!  I really like your version of her.  The movie version I prefer is the one with Justine Waddell.

Thanks! I saw the one with Justine Waddell and thought it was great! I have to say the one with Gemma Arterton is my favorite though.

Yeah, it's hard to go wrong, though I wasn't a huge fan of the Gemma Arterton one... I wasn't sold on the casting and some the acting.  But it's hard to go wrong with Tess!  The story and characters are so strong to start with.  Have you seen Roman Polanski's version from the '70s?  Not my favorite, but it's pretty good, and for many years was the only one I'd ever seen, so Nastassja Kinski was engrained in my head as Tess for a long while.

Thank you! Tess of the d'Urbervilles is a fantastic book! BUT, if you don't want to sit down and read the whole book, you can always watch an adaptation. The one with Gemma Arterton is excellent.
