I didn't actually design the character, but i did change them up a bit and gave them clothes ^^' but i usually when making characters play around with colors and see what matches. I try not to use a color i used too much of unless it fits

You just gotta find some pretty nice vibrant colors that fit together. It takes some time to practice but it's really fun :,D its also good to not overdo the bright vibrant colors. Other suller shades are good for maybe eyes and extra stuff like spots or stripes
