Description A loooooooong time ago, in the fall of 1986, a cartoon came on CBS. It was a short lived cartoon, one about a princess and a horse and another world.

This cartoon was called Wildfire, which was also the name of the main protagonist, a magical stallion. Friend and servant to the late queen of the mystical world called Darshan, Wildfire now was friend and servant to her daughter, the hidden Princess Sarah, who lived as a rancher's daughter in this world. If Sarah stayed too long within her true homeland, she would fall victim to the curse that claimed her mother's life, and then Darshan would fall to the evil whims of her step-aunt, the once Lady Di, now infamously known as Diabolyn. Due to a loop hole in the curse placed on the royal family, Sarah can return to her homeland for short periods of time; in this, she and two friends, Dorin, and a colt by the name of Brutus, with the help of the late queen's wise yet absent minded, elderly vizier, can defeat Diabolyn's schemes to take control of the land. Also part of the story was the loving Mr. Cavanaugh, Sarah's 'adoptive' father on Earth; little does he know that he too is from this distant land. For his own sake, and for Sarah's, his memory of Darshan is erased but for once, when he was the only one able to rescue her from Diabolyn's source of power, the Spectors. Last but never least was Sarah's friend in the Earth realm, Ellen. She was a Native American child who held a slightly mystical air about her, very much devoted to her peoples' spiritual ways.

This cartoon only had 13 episodes, but for those 13 episodes, it was a half hour well spent for a child of the eighties such as myself. Granted, the show could be considered more geared towards young girls, but anyone with an appreciation for fantasy and/or horses could find delight within its story line and plots per episode.

So, one day not so long ago - I decided to make some artwork of a horse; it's been a while, and I decided on Wildfire. Here he is in graphite #2 BiC pencil.

You have a fantastic eye for the horse's anatomy here! Good job on shading, too!

Thanks. I have a lot of work and study to do though. Where I am, what you see here, is from self-observation and practice over years. Thing is, I never was in the habit of drawing and practicing everyday. I do appreciate your critique though. I hope to do better.

That's mostly how I learned! As long as you love it, just keep drawing whenever you feel inspired!

Thanks! You're one of the nicest artists I've come across. So many seem so busy to really put themselves out there for beginners. I guess I can see that; but, you are so willing to be kind and give encouragement. I appreciate that. Thank you.

Aww thank you so much! I guess I just really love what I do and I love helping others find what they love to do, too.
You are very welcome and it's my pleasure!

Thanks hon. I am pleased with the head/face, 'cause I feel it does justice to Wildfire, himself. Overall, well, I need to learn and work more on horse (and every other living creature's) anatomy, especially bone and muscle movements and how that would show on the surface, if at all.

No problem. Just out of curiosity, how long have you been drawing?

Well, according to my mother, since I was 18 months old. But, I've only gotten serious since 2006.

It wasn't bad; the professor was funny and fun to work with. He hated us at first, but then towards the end of the semester, we were his best class (or one of them.) Our class had some members that pack up early, and that really irked him. I can't blame the professor, but I also see it on the side of the students - as some classes are scheduled so closely together, and one may have to clear half the campus to get to that said next class!

Aww, that's so sweet. It's like a story from a movie, with that first part. xD

Yeah, I can see both sides of that too. If they pack up ridiculously early though, it's like they don't wanna be there.

Yeah, that's what the professor was saying.

It never stopped, though; people were packing up 15 to 20 minutes earlier, even if they were finished with their piece.

I on the other hand was always late.

Aw, man. That may have irked me as a teacher. xD Though, I admit that I did it... In art class, it really got tiring to draw something EVERY day.

Me too.

I would break the rules, at times; actually, when I was in high school, students were not supposed to bring bookbags and all things to go home to our last classes, but I did that all the time (and wasn't alone). Please tell me the logic of being right by the door where my bus would be parked for boarding in the afternoon, yet going all the way back to my locker on the other side of the school building first, and then coming right back? Heck no!

Lol, I always hated that in Highschool! But I once got sent to my locker for having a purse that was 'too big'. BS! XD

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply: Thank you very much!

Do you remember the cartoon Wildfire? There are some parts of episodes (at least the opening theme song) on YouTube, and in different languages.

There were some that were too classic to allow to slip by; it's a shame in terms of Masters of the Universe, the 2003 remake of He-Man, that they never got into season three. They were going to introduce Force Captain - Rebel Adora and She-Ra.
