Description Sauron the Deceiver advising Ar-Pharazon the Golden, king of Númenor. The king's got a sort of Aragornish thing going, which is on purpose; they are distant relatives and all.

From Tolkien's Akallabêth (the last bit of the Silmarillion), and it's awesomely awesome because of Sauron being a sneaky fucker. He's good at that.

Title is from Hamlet, where the elder Hamlet speaks of his murder:
Upon my secure hour thy uncle stole,
With juice of cursed hebenon in a vial,
And in the porches of my ears did pour
The leperous distilment

I love Sauron's smile. The fact he's looking at the viewer suggest he wants us in on it, or he knows we can't stop him from being a troll and telling the king pervy jokes.

Ohh when I first saw that picture, I thought, "Gríma and Théoden!" But then I saw the black hair and said, "Can't be"

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought this was your version of Grima and a younger Theoden. Same idea, different age, huh? I love your artwork. The detail is wonderful and the adore the coloring!

Sauron, paving the way for horrid people like Grima since the Second Age...

The only nitpick i have is that their hands look a little too small for their heads. But i really like the poses, & Sauron's scheming look. And also the connection to Aragorn through Ar-Pharazon's looks.

That's a really awesome picture. ^_^b

Your skills at depicting fabric are impressive .... I always end up distressed when I try to do that. ^~^°

And Sauron-darling is absolutely HOT!!!!

Yay for more pictures! =3

I loved the Silmarillion, and in particular, Akallabêth. That section and the tale of Luthien and Beren were probably my favourites

Wonderful interpretation of Sauron in human form! And Shakespeare =

The Akallabêth is just plain awesome in written form. Of course, I may be biased. But yeah, one of my favourite parts of the Silmarillion, along with - as you said - Beren and Luthien, and the tale of poor Túrin.

... man, that whole book's depressing now that I think about it.

It is isn't it! But truly majestic. I like Turin's story too but it is a more enjoyable read in The Children of Hurin. It's more of a narrative there and has better details seeing as the whole book is dedicated to a story that had just a small section in The Silmarillion.

Alas, I've been more invested in getting a hold of 'History of Middle Earth' than 'Children of Hurín' up until recently. I am looking forward to finally getting it, though. One of my favourite stories in an extended version? Hey, yes plx.

This is gorgeous. I love their faces... and the colors are quite charming too. You convey so much in a fairly simple picture... great work.
