Description Adobe photoshop7.0 drawing from memory-about 2 hours..

After the traumatic failure of the first 'anaonymous nostalgia' I felt compelled to make a new one... Keeping in mind all the constructive critiscism for the last one (including "This sucks balls" from my closest friend) I refined the appearence and the rendering of the character...

Now that Ive deleted it, the explanation for the old one: (Those characters- they appear in probably the most intense moments of your story and rephrase their existance... No words, No actions- only their sight completes the scene... The aura of nostalgia that these irrelevant characters carry with them..
For those who are away and still remmember the smell of Meyci, Neyzen, Tavan Arasi, Eftelya or Orta kapi, try feeling that person that has been there -with you-, during the most 'important' minutes of your life, and that youve never met..

This nameless character (actually inspired by the 'SantaClause of Kadife st.) in the story of the Revolution, carries with him the essence of all that has come to pass... He never knew our 'heroes' nor their story, however has always been there in the background just existing as a memorial for the emotions worth of countless lifetimes...)

im not sure if u have read the old man and the sea by earnest hemmingway but it feautres an old man (as the title suggests) who is a very humble, good man and if i had to draw a picture of him i think it would be this one, its a great picture....bring goods feelings to the viewer...art is not only about good detail and technical accuracy, thats all good, but when a picture grabs you then its something. i was browsing the favourites of the day and this one is one that popped out from the rest, cos not only is this a technically accurate and detailed photo but it is telling a story...therefore this is a good, no its not...its a great piece! it must be faved!

i like this one a lot better. there's more spatial movement around the face. the other one felt too flat because it had that "deer in the headlights" thing going

i love how so much detail is focused on the face, the colors are also nice.
amazing, +fav

Oh yeah - the background. You may want to adjust it, that it looks more like a lake and the sky. Actually only upper part should be adjusted then - lower looks perfect.

I agree... this is much much better. The palette is softer and works well in conveying the mood.
Nice detail with the stray wisps in the beard...

Making things clear: I first started sketching on paper, then transfered my sketches to the computer (took a photo of the sketches), the rest is standard issue phoshp airbrushing...

Apart from the fact that all the work is pretty well done for you by photshop, there is no doubt that this looks excellent as a finished product. I do like it, but I am always sceptical of works thta have simply had photoshop work done to them. Still, I wont deny it, it caught my attention.

yea cockass. paint a portrait in photoshop, then you will be entitled to throw around your technical opinion.

I don't know if you're just confused or what, but this wasn't a photomanipulation...it was a painting done in photoshop pretty much made from scratch, minus the initial sketch done on paper that was taken into photoshop as a base for the piece. So, no, photoshop did not do most of the work for him.

Thanks a lot,
If you are asking about the 'Sony Cybershot' thingy that comes with the file description: Thats because I sketch on paper-take a photo- then develop ideas in the comp..
