*whew*I never thought I'd actually get the chance to ever illustrate this character, out of all the great background stories and protagonists that the universe of Warhammer 40,000 has to offer.
When I was asked to draw The Emperor, I was, of course, very daunted and at the same time very excited; The Emperor is one of those characters that every illustrator wants to draw, and if you don't get it right, it can be disastrous. Luckily, I was able to come up with a rendition I'm most proud of, based on the most recognised look of the Emperor by Adrian Smith, but also adding much of my own 'flavour' and style to the mix. Overall, I'm truly happy and (as I said) proud of how the image came out, and how I'm managing to get better and better with colour. There's still a long way to go, but I'm getting the hang of it...

First off all, you've done a wonderful job on the saviour of mankind.
I need not say that the greates part of this is his armor. Truly magnificent work on the gold. The shoulder pad is particularly great.
Armor aside, I like the face. It really does look like the Emperor.
All in all, a faithful portrayal of the Emperor. Excellent work

The face is something noteworthy because I think that's THE place where his true might can be seen.

I agree with that. All his armor and equipment, however splendorous, is 'man-made'. His face is all 'natural', if you know what I mean.

As for your idea, well... I've always been one to break the creative boundaries of whatever background I get my hands on, so an Empress is an interesting concept for the Dark Millenium. A deleted concept? Something the Ecclesiarchy wants to keep hidden? Lots of possibilities. I'll certainly give it some thought

I don't like the face. That's my only Qualm. It's just not "Perfect" Enough. The Emporer would look perfect. Like the Primarchs do. I can't even imagine what the emporer would look like.

Well, perfection is a hard thing to achieve, John and, to be honest, I didn't intend for my rendition to be that. I do agree with you (looking back at this one now) that the face could be somewhat improved, and who knows? Maybe I'll get a chance of doing yet another image of the Big E.

I'm not saying it needes to be perfect. But that's just how the Emporer, and primarchs are described. I think the faces perportions are.. Off. And I don't mean to be putting you down. Drawing a perfect face is impossible, I think.

Thank you, mate! The sord was actually left out because of space and composition reasons. Since I was working on a bust of the Emperor, if I added the sword, it would've unbalanced the whole and created enough space for me to fill more of His body, thus leading to a much larger image...
That doesn't mean I'll never draw him with his sowrd, though

I meant it to say 'Glory in Terra, Emperor Rex', which is what's missiing because of the wing: Gloriam in Terra, Rex Imperator. It's not latin per sΓ© (it's not gramatically correct or conjugated even!), but it does sound like it and that's what High Gothic basically is, hahaha...
