Description I'm doing some nature studies now. No fancy rendering, just trying to get familiar with this technique. ^^
This I did yesterday and I love how it turned out.
Today I tried to do another one, studying clouds and it ended in disaster and I deleted the file in frustration.
No more clouds for a while

Now I'll paint some nice old rock. Rocks make me happy. ^^

I know I can't learn everything on the first try but after hours spent trying and failing
to understand how to paint a glorious cloud in perspective, with shading and all that mumbo-jumbo...
I get angry with myself.

Does that happen to you also when doing studies? How do you deal, well, disappointment?

Go for it, paint from life and photos and you'll be able to do this too.

Whoa, this study looks beautiful!

When I do studies I never feel disappointment, because I accept that I'm learning but I'm extremely disappointed if I try to make something I can envision but cannot paint it as I want.

If I cannot create something as I envisioned, I leave it as it is and I go back to it when I'm moreΒ experienced in the subject.

I think it's important to realize that you won't always make great art. Especially when you're doing studies, remember to just try and learn from your mistakes!

This looks really beautiful though. Clouds are a struggle for me too, but I like the ones you've got going on here

I realize it in theory, but I can't help setting high standard for myself and feeling disappointed when I fail.
I know I'll learn it soon enough and all this frustration is unnecessary but eh... I guess I should work on my patience.

I think it's hard to not set a high standard for ourselves. I do the same thing to myself all of the time... but trying to have a student's perspective (that you're always learning) and realizing that success doesn't happen overnight is key!!

Not that any of those things are easy, haha.

i think that's a really cool thing about art. even if you do not think it is the best thing in the world, other people will admire it!Β
