no, I don't believe I've ever been on picrave

but odd that you say that because you look oddly familiar to me, too.

i really love the way you blend the pastels. do you use a lot of pastels (from the box or set), or do you use a few to mix those colours?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

nnnuts In reply to semisweet [2004-09-21 02:42:23 +0000 UTC]

a bit of both
while, I really use a set of about 8 basic colours, I'll use a building effect: I'll sometimes let the drawing sit a few days to "dry" and you can apply other colours over the original. This gives the drawing a much more oil-painted look and texture as well as allows you to build and blend colour.
Some of my earlier oil pastel work was done using a box of probably 32 colours, but I soon realized I was using the same few colours and I liked the look of basic colours blended than premade odd colours.

thank-you ^^ i appreciate your answer a lot (sorry it's taken me a while to answer) i really do enjoy your sensibility of colours and i didn't know that you could let oils "dry" i would have thought that even if left for a few days, the reapplied oil pastels would still bleed into the under layers.

Absolutely excuisite work. Has such powerful, mystic mood in it, like twisted far away dreams, that you can feel and taste, but only almost remember.
Ah, I love the combination of powerfull hues, while they are not screaming, but empasising one another, bending twisting and turning to even a more crafted scheme of colors, with that strick black always shining from the back of the canvas.
And once again I love your surrealistic vision, beauty work indeed.
Kissies and care.

i probably like this one out of all your pieces. it has a nice color atmossphere and i like how the blood sorta divides the lower half of her face. and oil pastels rule.

Wow, loving the texture and colors....inspiringI like how you didnt use skin tones(like peach, except on one part)but instead used yellows, oranges, and reds. is that supposed to be blood flowing down the center of her face onto her chin? thats the impression I get.

Wohooo I love this! Your colours and colouring style in this pic reminds me of everything I love That sketchy, intense winding of organized pastel-strokes just looks damn cool and works really well, especially with the black background and those colours you chose. The blood looks crazy-scary too and adds to the intensity for sure *nod*
I've gotta say, I like the top 2/3rds of this pic more - the shoulders seem a bit small in proportion to the face but then again, I'm sure that was intended
very nice *nod*
